According to the FWC, Florida does not have an official boating license. The Boating Safety Education Identification Card is proof of successful completion of the educational requirements to start boating, and has no expiration date.

Do I need this course?

In order to operate a vessel with 10 horsepower or more, Florida boaters born on or after Jan. 1, 1988, are required to complete a NASBLA-approved boater education course. Upon completion of our course, you will receive an official Boater Education ID card from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, delivered by mail or email.

This training is recommended for all boaters, but the state does not require it for those born before Jan. 1, 1988.

How do I get a Florida boating safety card?

You must first complete our NASBLA-approved and FWC-accepted Florida boating safety course. Prior to starting your training, you can select whether to receive your card by mail or email.
